Our Mission is Trauma Prevention
You would think programs like ours would not be needed. However, statistics prove otherwise though. Every year, 1,400 Canadians (under 25) lose their lives to injury. Those who survive often face months of rehabilitation and permanent reduction in quality of life.
Our mission is to raise awareness of risky behaviour leading to avoidable injuries.
We offer a variety of programs geared towards high school students, young adults and seniors. Our goal is to gather data on avoidable injuries and to educate people on how to make the right decision at the right time.
Our mission falls under the Adult Injury Prevention Program at the Montreal General Hospital – McGill University Health Centre, and we are supported by the Montreal General Hospital Foundation.
We are supported by Code Life, the Montreal General Hospital Foundation, and the MUHC, the McGill University Health Centre.

Trauma and death in Quebec
Believe it or not, as recently as in the early 1990s in Quebec, the mortality rate for people with traumatic injuries hovered around 50%. This meant that of all individuals who suffered a life-threatening injury, half died.
With the establishment, in 1993, of a province-wide trauma system led by Dr. David S. Mulder, this appalling rate dramatically decreased. It is now around 5% of our province’s trauma patients who do not survive.
Nonetheless, traumatic injuries remain the leading cause of death among Canadians under 34.
Our Programs
We collaborate with local, regional, provincial and national partners who share our approach to injury prevention. Together, we provide the public with the essential information they need to make informed decisions and wiser choices regarding their behaviour, and we thereby contribute to reducing the number and the severity of preventable injuries.
We offer presentations, information booths, prevention campaigns, media events, as well as thorough information on this very website.
